The Body Shop Shower Gels For Earth Lovers Pear & Lemongrass

 Thursday, January 10, 2013

Currently using The Body Shop Shower Gels For Earth Lovers Pear & Lemongrass after finishing my Burt's Bees one. Hmm.. 250ml bottles of shower gel never do last long, do they? This shower gel is from The Body Shops "Earth Lovers" series, where they promise that everything from the bottle to the suds that go down the drain are 100% biodegradable.

Honestly, that's not the main reason why I bought it lah. "As long as it smells good" is my motto. In fact, there's quite a few unique scents in the Shower Gels for Earth Lovers range, but this was the nicest one IMHO. Pear & lemongrass... can you find another brand that has something even similar to this? It's not my fave "citrus-y" type of scent, but it does have refreshing lemongrass, and I do love the subtle fruity pear scent.

The shower gel is translucent, with a slightly murky look to it. Very unassuming, but take a closer sniff and .. ahhhh. The most delicious smelling shower gel ever! It smells like a dessert, but not those sickeningly sweet type. :) I don't really detect the refreshing lemongrass... I mostly smell the pear, and oh, I love it!! It doesn't lather up thick, but big and bubbly... leaving your skin sweetly scented. However, it doesn't really last long. Tops, maybe 30 minutes? :(

All in all, really enjoying the time in the shower. Repurchase is uncertain cos I want to try the other stuff in the Earth Lovers range first! However, if there's a sale at Body Shop (which was when I got this in the first place...), why not? Cost was about RM30 even though there was a sale though. :S

Can't find anything online about the benefits of pear (unless you ingest it!) but the benefits of lemongrass for your skin is well-known! "Lemongrass is an anti-microbial and anti-bacterial herb. This means it will help limit bacterial or microbial growth on the skin. It can help ward off skin infections as well as lessen skin issues caused by bacterial infections, such as folliculitis and cellulitis. Lemongrass is also fungicidal, which means it helps cure fungus infections on the skin. The herb also acts as an astringent, which constricts the skin. This helps to minimize pores, limit the secretions of oil and provide a temporary skin-firming treatment."
