Jelly Pong Pong Christmas Sale! Up to 70% Off!

 Thursday, December 15, 2011

Jelly Pong Pong sales are on now at Hishop. Hurry up and sign up at that site before they started making it exclusive, and then you need people to "invite" you to become a member! I purposely joined that site just because I wanted to buy cheap Jelly Pong Pong stuff, and so glad now that they had a JPP sale again! The Christmas sets on sale are so cute! By the way, sales end on 21st December, so if you're thinking of getting it for someone on Xmas, better move fast and hope they ship fast too!

Here are the Christmas sets on sale :

Christmas Bathset
Consists of the Jelly Pong Pong soap popsicle in "Flight of Fancy" and two cupcake bath fizzies in "Summertime". Decided NOT to get this because I don't own a nice bathtub. Plus, kinda pricey for stuff that will not last you that long (I think it's ONE bath fizzy per use each time?), no matter how cute it can be.

Christmas Set A
Contains Mascara & Lash Extensions (looks super dramatic right!!) and Lip Frosting. It's like a lip gloss, and this one will give your lips a sheer cherry color and a glossy sheen.

I guess if you like wearing fake eyelashes, you should get a set like this! I didn't because I rarely wear mascara, what more fake eyelashes. :) Plus, I'm not a fan of the huge butterfly on the packaging. *shivers*

Christmas Set B
I am soooo sooo tempted to get this set! You know what a huge blusher fan I am right? Well, this set contains of TWO types of blush! One is the Jelly Pong Pong Jelly Flush which is a blusher with a JELLY LIKE TEXTURE. I mean, you definitely have not tried something like that before right? The other is their Supermodel Stain cream blusher in Nymphette. Just love the cute packaging for both products! I guess the only negative point for this set is that it is so expensive... *sulks*

Christmas Set C
Ooh, I saw the Brazilian Sun Puff Bronzer in Sephora before and the packaging is really, incredibly cute. It makes you feel like taking it home just so you can sit it prettily on your dresser. I'm not into bronzers though, in fact I try to stay out of the sun because I tan really easily! This also comes with the Supermodel Stain cream blusher, but this one is called Cupcake Pout.

Christmas Set D
Again - was very tempted to get these products! Christmas Set D contains of the Wide Awake palette which has all you need to give yourself that bright-eyed, bushy-tailed look, even when you are surviving on 3 hours of sleep a night. ;)

As for the other product, it is described as such, "Venus is a precious jar of pearls. Swirl finger over pearl surface for 1 colour. Crush pearl to release a second, even more entrancing hue. Blend both for the magic to begin." I think it's some kind of face primer? I remember my friend having something that LOOKS similar from Body Shop, and she used it like a face illuminator. Just to add some extra shine after everything else has gone on your face, lol. However, the Body Shop one did not have any crushing of pearls. It sounds like too much work to me.

Christmas Set E & F
If you've already bought lots of stuff for your eyes (I know I have... I have insane amounts of eyeshadows!), it's time to stock up on stuff for your cheeks and lips instead! This set contains the Flower Cream cheek stain in "Pretty" and the Lip Orchid in "Bouquet". Don't you just adore the packaging for the Lip Orchid gloss? Plus, it's not just a pretty color, it also contains aloe vera and vitamin e to heal lips and reduce fine lines.

One set has Lip Orchid in "Bouquet" and the other one in "Pink Petal".

Jelly Pong Pong Soap Popsicles
Two soap popsicles in "The Love Stick" (smells like Raspberry) and Watermelon (no prizes for guessing what it smells like!). Have fun in the shower, but don't get tempted til you take a bite!

You can check out the price yourself on the site, but I think there's some maintainence going on right now cos I *definitely* did not pay those prices when I bought my stuff. When I actually get the stuff, I'll tell you how much I paid for each item --- and the original price it is selling in shops!

I know quite last minute for me to post up this entry, there's so many other sales going on, and one ending by the time this post is schedulled to appear on my blog. :( There's also shoes for sale - the brand is famous in Hong Kong but not so in Malaysia (I think?). It's called Jane Holli and I bought two pairs of shoes as well. I like how they look nicer than Charles & Keith stuff, and at 50% of the price! How could I say no. There were more shoes that I fancied, but darn me and my monster feet.. most of them don't stock in my size. :(

Ooh la la, so dominatrix~

I admit --- it's the sky-rocketing high heels that captured my heart. :)

Ginvera Marvel Gel with Green Tea

 Wednesday, December 14, 2011

The face wash sample of choice that I took along with me to Singapore was Ginvera Marvel Gel with Green Tea's Emollient & Exfoliating Gel. It seemed like a SUPER face wash to me, claiming that it could do 10 different and amazing things for your skin. Such as :

1. Remove dead skin cells
2. Remove blackheads
3. Contracts pores
4. Lightens black spots, freckles & scars
5. Prevents pimples
6. Cleanses face
7. Whitens skin
8. Removes make-up
9. Removes oil seeds
10. Smoothens dark, rough skin

Can you imagine that? It's like buying this one bottle of face wash can save you the money of like at least 8 different products! Insane! Of course I couldn't believe it. -__-"

And indeed I wasn't born yesterday because not only couldn't it do that shit-load of amazing stuff, I think it couldn't even cleanse my face properly! And it's supposed to be a face cleanser first and foremost! So many things that I didn't like about it :
a. The texture of the gel
b. The smell of the face wash
c. The after effects of washing my face -- like not really clean. I had to use SO much gel to wash my face 2-3 times before I was satisfied!
d. Definitely no exfoliating feeling even though there are some exfoliation beads in the gel

I think that pretty covers everything. The only way it could be worse was if it gave me pimples by using this facial gel. Since I wanted to get rid of it ASAP, I just used lots and lots of it when washing my face.. which I actually HAVE to do anyway if I wanted to feel clean.

Really, just stay away from this product. There's cheaper and better stuff in the drugstore, I'm sure.

Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield BB Base

 Tuesday, December 13, 2011

The Lancome UV Expert GN-Shield BB Base is one of the best samples that I got to try while I was in Singapore! It's kind of hard to explain what it is, as I'm still not really sure. When I took it along, I just assumed that it was a moisturiser + sunscreen in one (with SPF 50 PA+++!). Later, I found out that it is a BB base (a make-up base), a moisturiser, sunscreen, whitening agent and skin corrector all in one! This product can be used by itself, or under foundation (in case you feel that it did not "correct" your skin tone enough).

What I really like about my skincare products are that it can absorb quickly and not leave any oily feeling on my skin. And of course STAY that way, and not start to ooze crap out after long hours in the sun. One of the factors that attracted me to try this product while I was in Singapore was that I knew I would be doing a LOT of walking around, and under a rather unforgiving sun. It felt good to know that this product not only protects me from getting darker, it also contains whitening agents that work at the same time to brighten dark spots, unevenness and iron out your wrinkles. Kinda amazing, huh?

Sadly, this was only enough for two uses, but in the two days that I used it, my skin felt so good throughout the day, and it really was a good base for my make-up as well. My cream blusher went on smoothly, and it was somewhat like a primer for my eyeshadow even! Then again, this might just be the placebo effect, since I'm thinking all kinds of positive, sparkly things about this item right now. ;)

Lancome also claims that putting this on brings on "instant skin radiance", but I would disagree to that. My skin looks the same (though I could feel that faint glove of protecting enveloping me). It's not like Benefit's face primers which leave you sparkling like a Twilight vampire. Still, all in all, a VERY good product. Then again, at RM165 for every 30ml, you can't expect anything less...

Packing Light?

 Monday, December 12, 2011

I really did not "pack light" this trip because I wanted to really dress up nicely, with accessories (both hair & jewelry), and with make-up nicely done. Cos I wanted to go to nice restaurants with Tron, etc. Sadly for me, I didn't get to do what I want (*sob*) and it is really a waste to take so much stuff to Singapore with me. I only do this when I know that Tron is driving down. If we took the plane, I would pack even lighter, to make room for SHOPPING.

I guess I'm just writing this down to remind myself not to get "deceived" by Tron that we would do more gastronomic adventures. As he said - when he was single he would come down to Singapore and every meal could be McDonalds / Mos Burger and he would be fine. "What do you expect from a bachelor?" he said. I am already happy that I managed to introduce fine Spanish dining to him this round. I will slowly turn him into a food snob (but would that mean he would cease eating my cooking?!)... muwahahha!

Anyway, just as a reminder to myself for future packing :
x It was a great idea to bring masks like MJ mud packs on trips instead of paper masks. Contrary to believe that paper masks are more convenient, when using it in a hotel room, the wet face mask just feels colder and never seems to dry up. I don't know if that's a better option, but I prefer NOT to have a freezing piece of paper on my face. I'm already "scared" of cold as it is. :)

x Bad idea to bring along cream blusher instead of powder blush. I am so sick of all that blending, plus I can only use cream blusher when I use moisturiser ONLY and I can't use BB cream with it. And I think I should be crazy and pack more than 1 type of blusher. I'm starting to think that blusher is SO important and can make or break a look. More important than lipstick even. Sacrilege?

x GREAT idea to bring along Cellnique's Intensive Hydrating Complex... I think that I'm super sensitive to air-conditioning. It really dries out my skin. Putting this product on has my skin back to normal within an hour! It's really THAT good.

x GREAT purchase in the Dirty Springwash from Lush. Love the two-in-one combination that is asexual enough for both me and my boyfriend. He took along his Kiehls two-in-one "adventure tested" shampoo & shower gel combination and it cannot hold a candle to Dirty Springwash. Dirty is more bang for your buck, smells better, foams better (for those who like that) and you just feel so much more refreshing after the shower!

That's all I can think of at the moment. Reviews to commence after this! :)

Haul-lelujah!!

 Sunday, December 11, 2011

Have been incredibly busy at work, and then managed to go for a short trip down south to Singapore again. *heart* It would be horribly dickish if I said I'm damn busy at work but kept updating my blog just for the sake of the cents and sen trickling in thru ads right? Anyway, my short holiday has gotten me a wealth of stuff to blog about! As always, I start with my hauls! Since it was a pretty long trip (4D, 3N), I got to buy more stuff than my previous rounds. I have a lot of other cute random non-beauty stuff to show, but I guess I'll put it on my main blog another day.

What happened to saving up for the huge purchase in 2012? Errr.. err... me and Tron need to go for some financial planning classes I guess. Both of us are the sort that when we have to make a big purchase, we decide to go for broke by spending everything else.

Of course, since I'm a drugstore hound, thankfully it is not that big of a hole in my pocket. ;) I just can't help myself sometimes... plus it's Christmas! There are so many cute "sets" and Xmas packages abounding that it seems a sin to NOT buy something. I'm already very grateful that I didn't give in to temptation to buy SGD$70 worth of stuff from Body Shop (that will take me a long time to use) in order to get SGD$44 worth of stuff that I don't want (and probably will not use). I'm very grateful that I resisted the temptation of getting the Soap & Glory sets from Sephora. From getting the Too Faced burlesque palette. From getting the mad cute Cezanne x Canmake sets from Watsons. If they had packaged in the blushers instead of the eyeshadow, I would've snapped it up in a second!

What I did get :

- Glow magazine Singapore, which is SGD$2, but comes with way more freebies than the one we get in Malaysia. But to be fair, they have been around for more than a year, while the one in Malaysia is freshly launched! It was a pretty good read too!
- The Travel set of masks from LoveMore... this was the one I tried to find in my last trip, but was unable too! Got it now!
- More masks from Dermal : buy 2 , free 1. I haven't even used the ones I bought from my last haul in November.
- Nivea's latest souffle moisturiser. It smells pretty sweet and I like the texture, hence I just decided to get it cos it is unique....
- Meltykiss which I wanted to share with Tron, but end up we weren't in the mood for choco, lol.

- Got the LoveMore kiwi mask removal thing, because I can't stress how much I hate blackheads ever since I discovered them as an oblivious teen in 2001. I can't believe I never noticed the black buggers on my nose until a friend pointed it out. Then I got to pinching the fellers out, disregarding pain and the potential of getting a sore nose on my part... anyway, kinda regret buying this after I got a better recommendation from Ben ...
- a random Sexy Doll mask.. just to see what's so sexy about it. Hehe!

And this is what Ben recommended to me! Actually, Abby recommended it to Ben and he forwarded it to me. It's "Pores Be Pure" by Formula 10.0.6. I saw the products the previous day, attracted by the bright colors and the simple design consisting of simple typeface in various sizes, hahaha. But because I had never heard of the brand Formula 10.0.6, I decided to put the purchase on hold. Little did I know that it is Abby's favorite product. Since Ben praises her skin to high heavens, I knew that I had to get it.

The "Down to the pore" Pore Strips are not recommended by her, but I just got it because I like pore strips. In fact, may be reviewing another brand soon, haha. Usually I stick to Biore...

Herbal Essences "Citrus Life" that I've not used before, but I decided to grab it, less it stops getting produced, just like the Camellia Hot Oil one! I still don't know why they don't sell this range in Malaysia. Alos got Dial Nutri Skin with Grape Seed Oil and Lemongrass. Those tiny beads inside are for exfoliation! I used Dial a lot and loved it when I was in US, glad I can get it in any random Carrefour in Singapore.

The sad part is that I can't find Original Source in Sg anymore!! *weeps*

SASA haul --- 2 pieces of random face mask from Naisture. A buy 1 free 1 promo. Got another "flavor" of Biore pore strips. This time it's Resort! I've already tried the aromatherapy rose and the grapefruit one. Grapefruit much nicer as the rose one a bit sickly sweet. Finally, I got the Balmbini from The Balm. My first time trying their products, and in an all-in-one set! Can't wait to try this one out and review it!!

Perfume samples that I got after buying Tron's birthday present! He randomly just asked the sales girl whether there was A (singular) sample for me since the perfume I just purchased was for him. She gave me 4 samples! One of them is CK's Forbidden Euphoria which I've already tried before and LOVE, so I'm so happy that I get another sample, haha. It will mean I can take my time to get the full bottle. :D And I'm looking forward to trying CK Shock! :D The other two samples are for guys and I plan to give to my brother since Tron is too "atas" to use perfume samples. Hmph!

A random item I got because it sounded so cool. I think it's actually a really good product, but you just have to be careful when you're using it, otherwise it might dry out your skin. I will blog more about this product later cos I find it rather cute, and The Nature Lab seems to be coming up with a lot of interesting and unique products in Singapore. Remember that gel mask I talked about from Uriage? Apparently The Nature Lab also produces something similar!

That's all for my haul this time around. I also managed to try so many samples while I was there, looking forward to populating this page again! Take care, fellow beauty druggies. =)

Watson's Glow Magazine

 Friday, December 2, 2011

Whoa! Watsons now has their own in-house magazine - which you can get for RM3, or RM2 if you're a Watsons VIP card member! The magazine is published every quarterly, the first issue being the Oct - Dec 2011 issue. It has Fish Leong on the cover, and you might've seen her and read about how she's an ambassador for Pure Beauty products from a lot of famous blogger's blogs.

Actually, I quite enjoyed the magazine! I love reading about health and beauty products, and I loved how they featured Rasa Malaysia in the magazine too! I also like :

a.The chance to win contests!!

b.The chance to review Watsons products for free!

I feel like I could be such an awesome reviewer for them! Could I please get a permanent reviewing spot, Watsons? :) Plus, I could even do some light editing in exchange for products. No offense, but seems like you need that for your magazine.

Other than that, at RM2, it's a super good price for a magazine. Then again ,even Cleo magazine has lowered their price to RM5! (Rare to hear prices of stuff getting LOWERED right?) Yay for good & cheap reading material!

My Beauty Diary Collagen Firming Mask

 Thursday, December 1, 2011

My last mask from my special box of My Beauty Diary Masks! It's been a while since I treated myself to a mask (had not had the time to do so), but I managed to enjoy my last piece of My Beauty Diary mask. The Collagen Firming Mask is for firming and intensive repair, and is a NEW product in the My Beauty Diary range. (TBH, I don't know how "new" it is since this box of My Beauty Diary masks has been on sale for a really, really long time!)

I really am going to miss how essence-soaked each mask is! Seriously dripping wet mask out of the packet, and a lot of essence still left inside the packet after! I have not tried it before, but I *think* you can put another mask inside there to soak up all the essence so that you can get two masks for the price of one in the end!

I'm trying REALLY hard to smile under the mask! :D

This mask is super moisturising, and I left it on for 40 minutes, and everything was still sopping wet. My face felt smooth and the skin was nice and "bouncey". However, there was no nice scent, so a bit disappointed in that area. Otherwise, a decent mask from My Beauty Diary.

What's up with "collagen" masks and is it able to be absorbed by the skin?
"An answer from Yahoo! Questions say : "Collagen creams don't really work because they can't be absorbed deeply into the dermis. They'll sit on top of the epidermis but can't penetrate deep down. Your skin produces its own collagen and the only way to stimulate more collagen is to use a laser on your skin or inject a filler into the skin. If you're looking for a body lotion, just use something that really hydrates and leaves your skin looking good. In a facial lotion, glycolic acid is a little better for routing maintenance and looking younger. "

So now you know. ;)
